Case Manager of the Month: January
Jan 01, 2020
Mary Wirtz was nominated for the IPMG Case Manager of the Month by a parent of an Individual she serves. In the nomination the parent shared that "we have had several medical and behavioral issues with our daughter. Mary has gone the extra, extra mile to change our funding hours to meet the needs of our daughter. She has been a wonderful sounding board and has had several suggestions to help us. She has followed through with referral names and numbers as well as small group information to help me through this rough time. Mary is a valuable asset to our family team. Thank you, Mary, for all you have done."
Mary states, "It is extremely exciting to be nominated for Case Manager of the Month. This is so meaningful to me and to come from such an amazing person. I have been a Case Manager for 5 years and I serve Posey, Vanderburgh, Gibson, and Warrick."
"I became a Case Manager at the suggestion of my own son's Case Manager saying I should apply for the position. I can truly say there is no other career I would ever want to be in. As a Case Manager, I have the training on waiver services and the life experience of also being the parent/caregiver/guardian. I understand the 24/7 work it is to care for someone and how challenging that is. In my job, I make it a priority to bring as many resources as I can to support a family and the individual so it is a true team of people working to help create the best life possible for them. In the past 2 years, I was on the Employee Advisory committee and I also led several volunteer projects with our local team. My future goals are to continue growing with my career and advocating for the people I care about."
"I am married and have 2 boys, Auston (age 20) and Eli (age 10). Both of my boys are diagnosed with Autism but are nothing alike. They do both love dinosaurs and Disney. I live in Posey County in the country and we have 1 dog, 1 cat, and 7 chickens. We enjoy being on the go and often take day trips to zoos, aquariums, and museums."
