Case Manager of the Month: March

Mar 01, 2020

Steven Paul was nominated for this award by David Martin, a Behavioral Consultant with Insights Consulting. In his nomination, David wrote, "Steven is an exceptional case manager. He goes above and beyond for those on his caseload. Working as Behavioral Consultant and sharing four cases with him... I have learned that Steven is always willing to do the things that are hard for his clients.

"I respect Steven as a colleague, as an advocate, and a person. Every client and family I share with Steven all note how wonderful Steven is! He is exceptionally knowledgeable and a great advocate with the ability to tote the clear line of the dual-role. He continues to learn, ask questions, and pick the brains of provider team members, all in an effort to be better, not just for himself professionally, but for those on his caseload. You can clearly understand how much he cares about the individuals he works with as well as their families.

"His recent accomplishments include supporting an effort to secure two CIH waivers for a pair of siblings in a difficult environmental situation, liberating a client from a staff person found to be financially exploiting the client through a self-initiated, meticulous audit when things didn't seem to 'add up,' collaborating with members of the client's team, BDDS, APS, State Ombudsman, and DDRS, and empowering an elderly client to use his voice when his RHS provider couldn't get or produce vital documents, and when they attempted to force an unsettling transition- this is all in just the last 12 months!!!
"His efforts and commitments to those he works with is truly inspiring. Moreover, he is an asset to IPMG, the waiver field, and every person (client, family, and/or provider) who are fortunate enough to get to work with him."

Steven writes, "Being nominated for case manager of the month is both exciting and humbling. Our jobs range from advocate, to steward, to team player and our successes are often selfless. I appreciate this honor but want to point out that the teams of which I’m a part and the many talented case managers at IPMG should be acknowledged as well… because we all lift each other up.

"I came to IPMG in 2015 after spending over a decade working in the mental health field. I learned about the company from a couple friends and it seemed like a unique role that really helped people. This really appealed to me, as I’ve always tried to find work that avoids selling trivial goods and actually serves a meaningful purpose. IPMG definitely fits that criteria and the bonus is that there are so many great people that I’ve come to know through my time here. While with IPMG, I’ve gotten to serve on the Employee Advisory Committee and the Legislative Watch Committee, and my latest challenge/opportunity is moving into a Senior Case Manager position.
"I grew up in Evansville before moving to Indianapolis in 2011. My wife also works in social services and in our off-time we enjoy travelling, hiking, camping, going to concerts, and most importantly: having extended play sessions with our dog, Harry."
