Employee Owner of the Month: August
Aug 03, 2020
Introducing IPMG's Employee Owner of the Month of August: Chelsea Burrell!
Chelsea was nominated for this award by a parent of an Individual she serves. In her nomination the mother stated, "Chelsea is AMAZING! When any task needs to be done, I never have to wonder if it will be dealt with...Chelsea gets things done! On top of her efficiency, Chelsea is kind, sincere, resourceful, knowledgeable, caring, respectful, innovative, helpful, responsive, gentle, engaging....I could go on and on! Just to give an example of her great qualities, I called her in the morning on New Year's Eve to ask her if she could help Andrew with an emotional problem he was dealing with. She came over with in an hour to sit with Andrew and just look at his problem from her perspective. She just laid things out so he could figure out his own answer. The fact that she would drop everything to come help Andrew made our hearts so full. We feel so taken care of by Chelsea. We know without any doubt that if he says he's going to do something she will follow through. So many of her great qualities make us feel so supported especially at times when our life is in turmoil. Chelsea is an amazing person and worthy of being selected CASE MANAGER OF ALL TIME!"
Chelsea writes, "It is such an honor to be nominated for Employee Owner of the month. I have been with IPMG since September of 2016 and over the course of this time have found case management to be the most rewarding job that I have had. This is a job that I truly love doing each day and I have the honor to work with so many great families, Individuals and teams.
I have been working with Individuals with developmental disabilities since 2009. I was initially hired as a direct care staff for a group home who served teenage boys with autism. I worked at the group home full time as I went through college to obtain my Bachelors degree at Purdue University. Following college, I moved to Maine to be with my husband who was in the Navy. In Maine, I worked as a behavioral technician in a special needs school. We then moved to San Diego, California where I was the director of Group Homes. When my husband was discharged from the Navy in 2016, we moved back to Northwest Indiana where I began my career at IPMG. What I love most about being a case manager is that I get to work directly for the people I respect most, my individuals and their families. Being their advocate and fighting for their rights as if they were my own ignites a strong passion. I also get to work with a great team of coworkers and colleagues.
My husband and I love living in Northwest Indiana where we can be close to family. We love to camp, hike, spend time with our two dogs and read. I am also an avid runner. When I’m not working, I’m often our running trails."
Congratulations, Chelsea! We are so blessed to have you on our team! Nominate your IPMG Case Manager at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/G5CGD96
