Employee-Owner of the Month: February 2024

Feb 12, 2024

Meet Theresa Shotts

Congrats to Case Manager Theresa Shots, our February 2024 Employee-Owner of the Month! Theresa received two shining nominations. The first was from a provider who wrote:

"Theresa is just absolutely amazing. I know if the person we serve needs anything, Theresa is just a call away; she has even answered while on vacation. Recently, the person we serve was having a very difficult time getting moved, so Theresa not only worked on coming up with move plan (on a very short notice too), but she also went to the individual's home and spent several hours helping her with getting all her belongings packed. Once this person was moved to her new place, Theresa went over there to do a check-in and she ended up spending a bit of time helping that person do some unpacking and looking for certain items. I'm sure the staff at the new place would have helped (if they had been asked), but the individual we serve is still getting to know them and wasn't feeling comfortable enough with letting the people at the new house touch her belongings yet. I feel so blessed for having Theresa as a team member, and the people we have worked together with over the years just love and adore her too."

The second nomination was submitted by the parent of an Individual she supports who stated: "Theresa is always helpful and cares about her clients. She is an asset to IPMG and has been an excellent case manager to our son and family."

Congrats, Theresa! We are grateful for you and all our hardworking and dedicated Employee-Owners!

What inspired you to become a Case Manager?

I had facilitated a volunteer program called Everybody Counts for over 10 years in my children’s elementary school. Everybody Counts is a national disability awareness program designed to teach students about various disabilities and how children with challenges cope with them. The goal is to build understanding, inclusion, and ease with one another’s differences. I loved seeing children become educated on how to be a friend with someone with differences and realize that we’re all more alike than different. The children often became aware of how to better communicate with grandma’s impaired hearing or empathize with the struggles of others. Case management allows me to continue this work.

What do you love about being an IPMG Employee-Owner/Case Manager?

I love seeing growth in the individuals who choose me to support them in their journey. I love celebrating individual’s successes and seeing the pride that’s developed with these successes. This position is different every day but often have opportunities to witness joy at team meetings or at a Thrive Barn Dance. I love working for IPMG whose whole mission is to enrich other’s lives. IPMG provides me with opportunities for networking, ongoing training and managers who support me in my position. I have a team of very experienced case managers that I rely on for support, advice, and assistance. I learn something new most every day which can be attributed to the depth of knowledge of my peers.

Tell us about yourself and your hobbies and interests.

I have 2 adult children and a large extended family near me to celebrate holidays and life events. I enjoy going to football games (and tailgating) with my family and friends, going out to dinner, concerts, and gardening in warmer weather.
