Employee Owner of the Month: July
Jul 01, 2020
Introducing IPMG’s Employee Owner of the Month of June: Desirae Brown!
Desirae Brown was nominated by a behavioral consultant colleague. In her nomination she stated, “I am nominating Desi Brown for IPMG’s Employee Owner of the Month because during these unprecedented and uncertain times, she has maintained such a calming presence when speaking with the Individuals we serve and has validated their feelings and concerns while also not adding any additional stress or anxiety to their lives. I’ve had the pleasure of being on support teams with Desi for several years, and she always practices an individual-first approach - well before the PCISP framework was put into place. She is supportive, compassionate, and understanding of our shared individuals and helps to share her calm with them. That sharing of her calm has been even more apparent and important now when doing virtual meetings, and could not occur at a better time. Desi is truly a leader in the case management field!”
Desi writes, “Being nominated for Employee Owner of the Month is amazing! I know that I work among astounding case managers and professionals. I am honored that families and individuals allow me into their lives and trust me with either themselves or their loved ones. To have another professional recognize you is a wonderful feeling. I believe that it takes the whole team to make a difference and the leader of the team needs to be the individual driving us.
Prior to starting my career as a case manager, I worked for a company supplying residential services for the Medicaid waiver. I started as a DSP while I was in college at Purdue University. The provider that I worked for at the time, presented me with upward mobility and in a couple, years became the Director of the branch. Case Management in the Lafayette area opened, and I was interested in exploring a different role regarding the assisting individuals on the Medicaid Waiver. It has been a great opportunity.
I moved to Lafayette in 2000 with my brother to attend Purdue University. I had my son at that time. As my time in Lafayette grew, so did my family. I have four children and we enjoy each other’s company. My son will graduate from Purdue University in August 2020. My daughter is a senior in high school. I also have a six and three-year-old and they keep me remarkably busy with day to day life. Working for IPMG has been fabulous, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work and to be an employee owner.”
