Employee Owner of the Month: September

Sep 04, 2020

Introducing IPMG's Employee Owner of the Month of September: Troy Shaw!

Troy was nominated for this award by the family of an Individual he serves. The nomination stated, “With each of the nominations for case manager of the month, always mentioned is the individual’s hard work, dedication and personal touches that make the relationship between client, family and case manager so meaningful. And so it is true with the case manager we have. He has great knowledge of the components of his job and completes the requirements with efficiency. He is able to give or locate information whenever he is asked. His explanations of policy are always to the point and able to be understood. He is knowledgeable of and respected by the support agencies and the personnel they employ. But Troy Shaw exhibits his advocacy of the rights and needs of individuals of disability in the nature of who he is. Although his presence is somewhat laid-back and neutral, he is full of passion and compassion for the clients he serves. You can see it in his eyes, hear it in his voice and know it in his actions. He has become part of our sister’s and of our family’s life journey over the years we have known him. He has helped us plan for and accept the changes we have had to put in place as our sister ages and loses more of her physical and mental abilities. Although she is unable to speak a word, our sister knows Troy speaks for her and truly advocates her best interests. He has always had the time and the patience to respond to our questions and concerns as we too advocate for her. Although Troy is moving on to a new IPMG position, we thank him from the bottom of our hearts and know that the new families he will be working with will also soon recognize him as one of the best. (It would be a special memory to honor Troy as Case Manager of the Month. Our sister Marybeth recently passed away).

Troy writes, “It is quite an honor being nominated for IPMG’s Employee Owner of the Month, and receiving such kind feedback from a family I had worked with for the past several years. I am actually more humbled that the family took the time to write such a kind and thoughtful letter sharing their experience. Positive feedback is something that we all need, especially right now, so it was good to hear this from a family that had been going through some tough times. This also gives me an opportunity to thank all of the Direct Support Professionals (DSP’s) and other team members for their hard work!

I have practiced in this field for nearly twenty years. I began as a DSP with a local Waiver provider throughout college at the University of Southern Indiana while pursuing a degree in Social Work. After college, I later returned to the same provider in a QIDP/QDDP role for a several years before taking on my current role as Case Manager with IPMG. Since starting with IPMG, it was very clear that this was a place I wanted to finish my career. I have never felt so appreciated as an employee and been around such a positive group of co-workers. Since day one, I have been provided with the necessary resources and supports to provide the best possible services to our consumers.

I am originally from Evansville, IN where I started with IPMG. My girlfriend and I spent the past 4-5 years in Chicago, prior to relocating to the Indianapolis area in June. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, going to concerts, photography, kayaking, cooking/grilling out, and just spending time outdoors with friends & family. I tend to do a lot of walking and seeing new places I haven’t been before during the summer months. I also enjoy finding ‘dives’ and other hidden gems when dining out. I’m always open to recommendations!”

Congratulations, Troy! We are so blessed to have you on our team! Nominate your IPMG Employee Owner at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/G5CGD96
