Employee Owner of the Month: September 2021

Sep 01, 2021

Introducing IPMG's Employee Owner of the Month of September: Garrett Strantz!

Garrett was nominated for this award by the guardian of an Individual he serves. The nomination stated, "Started with us as a new case manager and asked for the job. He was always very thorough with his job. He was interested in us and willing to help us as we needed."

Garrett writes, "I am honored to be nominated for IPMG Employee Owner of the month. I have worked for IPMG since 2011 and recently reached 10 years with the company. I've been lucky to work with amazing individuals, empowering caregivers, and dedicated teams.

I have been married for nine years to my wife, Lizzy. We have two dogs (Chewy & Minnie) who provide ever-present companionship. My wife and I both work from home, which is a positive for both us and our pets. In my free time, I like to watch sports, play video games, go walking, and binge watch (and re-watch) shows.

I graduated from Valparaiso University in with a BA in English and Psychology in 2002. I taught in Chicago and Detroit from 2004-07 through a graduate program and in 2006 graduated from Valpo with a Master's in Education. While I enjoyed some elements of teaching, it never really felt like the right career for me.

In 2007, I moved back to Indiana (South Bend) and wanted to find work where I could help others. More or less on a whim, I began working on the residential side with a provider and immediately felt a connection to this field. Initially I worked as a house manager and then moved on to another provider working on the day services side. The more I was able to learn about services, the more I became interested in working in case management. When I started with IPMG I immediately felt as though I was in the right place and was being prepared to succeed. I relocated from South Bend to Indianapolis in 2019, and I have seen my caseload change quite a bit from mostly adults (and older adults) with established services to many children and younger adults who are just starting to navigate services. In the past decade, there have been plenty of changes to services as well, and I feel fortunate to have been able to serve families to the best of my abilities."

Congratulations, Garrett! We are so blessed to have you on our team!
