Congrats to our Employee-Owners of the Month, April Walker and Jeremy Wines! April and Jeremy were both selected due to their organization of the IPMG Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, and dedication to the Special Olympics program in their home community of Delaware County...which resulted in both them and their families being awarded Delaware County's Special Olympics Family of the Year! Thank you for all you do, April and Jeremy!

April Walker

Position: Case Manager

What inspired you to join the field of case management?

I had worked in this field for many years and Jeremy Wines had just gotten hired by IPMG. He said they were hiring and how much he really liked the company. I applied and rest is history.

What do you love about being an IPMG Employee-Owner?

I love my job, being able to interact with friends, families, and providers. I enjoy helping others. I also like the flexibility of the job.

Tell us about yourself and your hobbies and interests.

I have an incredible family starting with my husband Tom, and sons Vinny and Wyatt. They are so supportive and also have enjoyed doing Special Olympics sports.

My parent also volunteer for many different things for Special Olympics, then too my extending family also participates on Special Olympics. This is really a family affair for us.

I also really like to read all different kinds of books. I also like to do diamond art, and in the last couple of years I have taught myself loom knitting. I like to make blankets, hats, headbands, scarves, and ponchos for my nieces and nephews.

Position: Intake & Coverage Coordinator

What inspired you to join the field of case management?

Both of my parents are deaf so helping others came naturally to me. I worked for a provider for 10 years and needed a change. I obtained employment at a local hospital as a Social Worker, but shortly after obtaining the job, I realized that I missed working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and applied at IPMG. Fifteen years later, still love the job and those I work with!

What do you love about being an IPMG Employee-Owner?

I love assisting others and helping to be a resource for individuals, families, and providers. I really have enjoyed working with individuals and families at an intake level. This is where it all begins! I have the opportunity to work with individuals and families to connect them to resources that they might not have recognized or brainstorm with them on how to make something work.

Tell us about yourself and your hobbies and interests.

My family and faith are important to me! I’ve been married to my wonderful wife, Alanna for 17 ½ years. We have two children, Jackson and Anna. Working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is a family affair, as my wife is a Life Skills teacher at the local high school and we all volunteer for Special Olympics. I have coached the mighty Delaware County Cyclones basketball team for the past 22 years, and my son and a cousin are also assistant coaches. My daughter is always helping out, however she can, especially during basketball season!

I’m involved with my church, seeing the world as a mission field. My kids are involved with various sports activities so we’re always running to some sporting event for our kids (Cheerleading, Volleyball, Cross County, Track and Archery). I love sports and anything sports related!! I’m usually always watching Notre Dame and Chicago Bear football, IU basketball and love playing games with my family and friends!
